Ian Smith has over 22 years of experience in the mortgage industry. He recalls his humble beginnings with a small Mortgage Lender in New Hyde Park, New York, where he started out on a "try to see if you like" basis. Obviously, he came to love it and has never looked back. Over the years, Ian has helped many borrowers realize their dream of homeownership. Ian discovered that the keys to having successful results and gaining borrowers' and realtor's trust were product knowledge and superb customer relations. He is knowledgeable in FHA, VA, USDA and conforming loans. Ian has been incredibly fortunate to work with several great realtors and builders which has allowed him to cultivate long term business relationships and forged some priceless friendships. Ian is married to his high school sweetheart and they have been together for over 35 years. They have been blessed with four beautiful children; three of them are adults and the youngest is a junior in high school. In 2011, he became very ill with symptoms that appeared to be cancer but went undiagnosed for 3 years. At the time of diagnosis, he was informed that it was stage four. He was fortunate to be healed miraculously after only one chemo treatment and has been in remission ever since. Ian has always understood the value of the relationships he has established in this business beyond its monetary benefits, but the support of others in the industry during this time further bolstered his belief in treating those he had the pleasure to work with as family.
